The AIR Awards have announced the best independent label nominees for 2017.

Nominees revealed for the ‘Best Independent Label award’ include Barely Dressed Records, Elefant Traks, UNFD, Jazzhead, I OH YOU and Pieater.

The event will be hosted by Dylan Lewis and will feature exclusive live performances from A.B Original, Ngaiire, Henry Wagons and many more.

This year’s awards will be followed by an array of industry after parties, some free to the public. Chugg Music, Future Classic, ABC Music and Golden Era Records, and Bad Apples will be hosting general public after parties.

In 2015 when the event was last held, Milk! Records took out Best Independent Label. Also winning awards was Courtney Barnett for Best Independent Artist and Breakthrough Independent Artist of the year went to #1 Dads.

Concurrently with the AIR Awards, there’s also the Australian debut of UK industry conference Indie-Con. Indie-Con has just announced their full slate of keynote speeches, including Murray Cook (the Wiggles), Sebastian Chase (MGM) Tim Kelly (Inertia Music) and Andy Hayden (Poison City). The event will take place from the 27 and 28 of July at Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Institute.

There’s also the Scouted event on Friday 28 July, which showcases 15 bands over five stages. These shows are free for conference delegates, allowing industry the chance to discover South Australia’s best unsigned talent. The lineup includes Alana Jagt, Battlehound, Bek Stevens, Electric Fields and more.

Across the weekend Adelaide’s Winter Reds festival will also be taking place across 30 wineries providing numerous events from the 28 - 30 of July.
