The Amrap Metro and Amrap Regional Charts provide insight into what’s gaining airplay and attention on community radio. The charts show the top ten tracks ordered for airplay by community broadcasters through the Amrap’s AirIt music distribution service. This week sees Lonelyspeck debut at the top spot in the Amrap Metro Chart, while Tania Kernaghan moves up to the first position in the Amrap Regional Chart.
Lonelyspeck debuts at #1 in the Amrap Metro Chart, with Happy New Year picking up a spot on FBi Radio Sydney’s New Music List, whilst also being named Independent Artist of the Week in late December by the station. The official audio clip for the track, as featured via Amrap Pages, is available on station websites including FBi Radio Sydney, RTRFM Perth, and Inner FM Melbourne. The track by the Adelaide based solo electronic producer has also picked up airplay on 5 Triple Z in Adelaide, 3RPC in VIC as well as Radio Skid Row and Vox FM in NSW.
Tania Kernaghan has moved up to the #1 slot in the Amrap Regional Chart with her latest offering That’s A Tradie. Watch the official video for the swinging country single, brought to you via Amrap Pages on station websites including Fraser Coast FM in QLD, 979 FM in VIC, 2NUR FM, 2MCR and Nambucca Valley Radio in NSW. That’s A Tradie has amassed plenty of airplay in nearly every state, including Albany Community Radio in WA, Fraser Coast FM in QLD, City Park Radio in TAS, 5YYY, PBA FM ,Trax FM and Adelaide’s Coast FM in SA, as well as OCR FM, North West FM, 3RPC and Smart FM in VIC, as well as Nambucca Valley Radio, Wow FM, STA FM, 2AAA FM, Central Hunter Radio and Vox FM in NSW.
Paradigm rises in position during the second week featured on the Amrap Metro Chart, now taking out #2 with BBT having picked up a spot in Edge Radio Hobart’s new music list. Paul Cowderoy moves up to #2 in his second Amrap Regional Charting week, with Nothin’ You Want. The raw country and roots track has had widespread airplay across the country, including City Park Radio in TAS, Albany Community Radio, Tjuma Pulka FM and Voice of the Avon in WA, 5 Triple Z and WOW FM in SA, as well as 101 FM, Noosa FM, Coast FM and Beau FM in QLD, 2MCR, SWR FM, Northside Radio and Vox FM in NSW, as well as OCR FM, Voice FM, 3RPC and North West FM in VIC.
Flangipanis have continued their presence in the Amrap Metro Chart, taking out #3 in their third charting week with Double Standards having featured in their hometown station 4ZZZ Brisbane’s Top 20, and having topped the station’s Hot 100 most played songs list for 2016. The self-described ’fake punk four-piece’ called into The Range on Radio Adelaide to discuss their previous visits to Adelaide, the story behind Double Standards and which member of the band would be eaten first if they were stranded on a desert island.

The Bushwackers are charting on the Amrap Regional Chart for the third week, filling the #3 position with Another Trip To Bunnings. The Celtic-infused single has racked up further airplay across the country at stations including Voice of the Avon in WA, City Park Radio in TAS, WOW FM and Coast FM in SA, Nambucca Valley Radio, Braidwood Community Radio, Coonamble Community Radio and 2MIA in NSW, as well as Southern FM, 3RPC, OCR FM, Voice FM, 3WAY FM and 94.7 The Pulse in VIC.
Gum moves up to #4 in the Amrap Metro Chart, with Gemini. Watch the official video for the psychedelic synth-pop song as featured via Amrap Pages on station websites including RTRFM Perth, 4ZZZ Brisbane, Edge Radio Hobart, Eastside Radio and FBi Radio in NSW, as well as Triple R FM, Inner FM and 979 FM in VIC.
Tobias is still going strong in the Amrap Regional Chart, taking the #4 position for When The Sun Comes Up Again. The QLD folk and roots artist recently called into 98.9 FM in Brisbane where he spoke about his upbringing in a “folky house” in Eumundi and how studying Indigenous Studies and Anthropology at university has helped his song writing. The track has received plenty of airplay from regional stations including King Island Community Radio in TAS, Voice of the Avon in WA, Hills Radio, Radio Alexandrina and 5GTR in SA, 2MIA, Coast FM and Triple U FM in NSW, as well as North West FM, OCR FM and Mitchell Community Radio in VIC.
Cosmos Midnight make their debut at #5 on the Amrap Metro Chart with latest track History. History was listed on FBi Radio Sydney’s New Music List, and also received further airplay from Radio Adelaide in SA, 2MIA in NSW, as well as 3NRG and Southern FM in VIC.
Karin Page remains in the Amrap Regional Chart, taking the #5 slot for Wherever You Are. Watch the official video for the alt-country single as featured via Amrap Pages on station websites including Nambucca Valley Radio in NSW, Rainbow FM in QLD and Plenty Valley FM and 3MDR in VIC. The emotive and catchy tune from the Byron Bay local has received a swathe of airplay from stations including King Island Community Radio in TAS, Radio Mama and Voice of the Avon in WA, Adelaide’s Coast FM and Hills Radio in SA, Coast FM, Valley FM and Beau FM in QLD, 2MIA, STA FM, 2BOB and 2AAA FM in NSW, as well as 3NRG, 3WAY FM, Apple FM, Voice FM and 3WBC in VIC.
Alex the Astronaut has held onto a spot in the Amrap Metro Chart, taking #6 in her third charting week with Already Home having picked up a spot in FBi Radio Sydney’s new music list. The country music three-piece can also boast a spin on the iconic nationally-syndicated Good Morning Country program, broadcast on community stations nation-wide via the Community Radio Network (CRN).
Bonniedoon leapfrog to #7 in the Amrap Regional Chart with Take me Down having received airplay at stations right across Australia including Voice of the Avon in WA, 5GTR and Tribe FM in SA, Gin Gin’s Own and 4NAG in QLD, Triple H and Radio Skid Row in NSW, as well as 3NRG, 3WBC, 3RPC and Mitchell Community Radio in VIC. Jazz Party are still going strong in the Amrap Regional Chart, taking #9 with Mountain Goat. The eight-piece powerhouse recently dropped by PBS FM’s The Breakfast Spread to chat about their upcoming shows and have picked up airplay all over at stations including 4NAG in QLD, King Island Community Radio in TAS, Valley FM in ACT, Tribe FM and 5GTR in SA, Yarra Valley FM and 3WBC in VIC, North West FM, 94.7 The Pulse and Voice FM in VIC, as well as 2MIA, Coonamble Community Radio, Radio Northern Beaches, TLC FM and 2BOB in NSW.
