APRA AMCOS elects 2014 Board Directors

APRA AMCOS announced the election of its Board Directors at the APRA AGM in Sydney last night.

The AGM saw songwriter and frontman of Karma County, producer, film composer and longtime participant of the APRA AMCOS Ambassador program, Brendan Gallagher welcomed to the position of new Board Writer Director.

The election saw the return of Board of Writer Director Nigel Westlake, Publisher Director David Albert, Bob Aird (Universal Publishing), Marianna Annas (ABC Music Publishing), Damian Trotter (Sony/ATV Publishing) and Matthew Capper (Warner/Chappell Music Australia).

Artist Jenny Morris OAM, Australian Writer Director since 1995, was also returned as the Chair of the APRA board, her second year in the role, while Mushroom MD Ian James was returned as Deputy Chair of the APRA Board. James and Peermusic’s Matthew Donlevy were returned as Chair and Deputy Chair of the AMCOS Board, respectively.

During the AGM Morris acknowledged the work of departing APRA Board member Eric McCusker, who served the APRA Board for over 20 years. APRA AMCOS CEO, Brett Cottle reported on the performance of both companies, citing from its annual Year in Review for the 2013/14 financial period. Figures reported showed the music rights association distributed $252.8 million to its members and affiliates.

APRA Board Directors serve a three-year term and under the APRA Constitution two Writer Directors and two Publisher Directors retire each year. Retiring Directors may offer themselves for re-election for a further three-year term.
