One Direction took out Best Live Act for the second time at the O2 Silver Clef Awards in London last Friday.

The category, sponsored by Ticketmaster, was based on public vote, and One Direction had more than 60% of the total vote.

Other nominees included Muse, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Little Mix, Bring Me The Horizon, Catfish And The Bottlemen, The 1975, Rudimental and Florence + The Machine.

One Direction said of their victory: “Thank you to all our fans for voting! Our live show is so important and it is amazing for this to be recognised by winning the Ticketmaster Best Live Act Award for the second time.”

The public was asked to vote for their Best Live Act of 2016 via the Nordoff Robbins website and Twitter during May and June. The shortlist consisted of 10 artists who played in the UK between March 2015 and March 2016, handpicked by a panel of music industry experts.

One Direction are currently on hiatus, with two members recently announcing solo deals. The band’s most recent album, Made in the A.M., was released in November. They played their final gigs on The X Factor in mid-December, and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2016.

Chris Edmonds, Chairman of Ticketmaster UK, observed, “One Direction truly are a global success story and they proved their popularity once again this past year, selling out arenas up and down the UK with their On The Road Again tour. “he all British line up of nominees for the Ticketmaster Best Live Act award was great to see, but One Direction were the clear winners, congratulations!”

He told the audience, “This is the best thing in the world because attached to it is a charity. Attached to it (are) some kids that are probably going to use music therapy as I used it – to pull themselves back together again.”
