aria chart predictions triple j hottest 100 sparks album sales resurgence for gang of youths and kendrick lamar

Following a commanding weekend on the annual triple j Hottest 100 countdown, Gang Of Youths will soar back to the Top 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart as sales numbers shoot up for the Sydney group’s sophomore album Go Farther In Lightness.

It’s the same story for this year’s Hottest 100 winner Kendrick Lamar who’s 2017 album DAMN. will look to reclaim its place in the Top 20 this week after dropping out of the bracket late last year.

American heavy metal stalwarts Machine Head will vye for a Top 5 debut on the Albums Chart this week with ninth studio album Catharsis. The group have scored two Top 10 appearances with previous albums Bloodstone & Diamonds (2014) and Unto The Locust (2011). Judging by the midweek numbers, Catharsis will mark the band’s best commercial performance in the country to date.

Hip-hop trio Migos are also in contention for a strong debut this week with Culture II. Sporting a stacked lineup of guest appearances from Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Big Sean, Drake, Travis Scott, 2 Chainz, 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, Ty Dolla Sign and Post Malone, consumers are not wasting any time getting their hands on the record.

While likely to capture the #1 spot on the UK Albums Chart, Craig David’s new LP The Time Is Now is destined to fight for a spot in the Top 30 in Australia. The singer’s track record in the country suggests there’s still plenty of room for the album to grow.

Commercial heavyweight Drake is already shifting big sales numbers with new track ‘God’s Plan’ likely to make a jump into the Top 3 this week. Also moving up is Aussie dance group PNAU with ‘Go Bang’, as well as Camila Cabello’s radio-made single ‘Never Be The Same’.

Justin Timberlake’s new single ’Say Something’ featuring country star Chris Stapleton will find a debut spot in the top half of the chart this week as fellow Man Of The Woods single ’Filthy’ sits comfortably at #33. Expect to both to rise up the chart over the coming weeks following JT’s album drop on Friday.
