Now in its sixth year, ARIA Week is taking the spirit of celebrating all things Australian music in the run-up to the ARIA Awards, to a global level.

Beats 1 presenter and Creative Director, Zane Lowe, broadcasting the first of three of his radio show on Monday, November 27 (with an emphasis on Australian music) to an international audience in 100 countries from Sydney.

That day, he will also be the keynote speaker at the invitation-only ARIA Masterclass held at the Telstra CIC.

ARIA Chief Executive, Dan Rosen said, “With more than 15 years in the business, Zane Lowe has been at the forefront of the global music industry.

“As one of music’s most influential radio DJs and now the head of Apple Music’s Beats 1 radio station, we look forward to him sharing some of the unique insights he has gathered throughout his extensive career.”

2017 ARIA WEEK SCHEDULE

One Day at Beach Road (Sunday November 19): created and curated by Inner West collective OneDay (Spit Syndicate, Horrorshow, Joyride and Jackie Onassis), the free show on two stages see an array of hip-hop DJs Jayteehazard, Hau (DJ set), Klasik, Nes, Jade Le Flay, Bad Deep DJs and One Day DJs from 1 pm –10 pm.

BL Burgers will be on hand to feed the hungry and word has it a One Day burger is in the works.

Laneway & ARIA Present (Sunday 19—Tuesday 21): intimate shows featuring Matthew Young (New Zealand), Muki (Sydney), Good Morning (Melbourne), Hatchie (Brisbane), Dear Seattle (Sydney), Eliza & The Delusionals (Gold Coast).

Music + Vision: (Tuesday, November 21): a discussion initiated by Universal Music Australia’s licensing department, it looks at the right song for the right moment, sync and music licensing.

ORiGiN Music’s Philip Mortlock mediates a panel with Graham Donald (Creative Director @ Channel 7), John Watson (General Manager @ ElevenMusic), Karl Richter (CEO @ Level Two Music) and Emily Crews (Sync & Licensing Director @ Universal Music Australia).

The event will be followed by a morning tea and a performance by Odette.

Vance Joy Tour (Thursday, November 23): two shows by the multi-platinum singer-songwriter in Melbourne and Sydney following the release of new single ’Lay It On Me’, his first new music for three years.

Producers And Engineers BBQ (Thursday, November 23): event by Studios 301 and theMusic.com.au honours the unsung heroes. This year there is a live podcast with 2017 ARIA Producer Of The Year recipient, Adrian Breakspear, to chat about his role co-producing and engineering Gang of Youths’ Go Farther In Lightness double album.

Swarovski’s Spring/ Summer Launch (Friday, November 24): sponsors of the ARIA Red Carpet unveil the Rainbow Paradise collection of jewellery and watches.

SummerSalt, Hunter Valley (Saturday, November 25): summertime experience leaves the beach for Hope Estate Winery in Hunter Valle with The Cat Empire and Xavier Rudd.

The New Noise (Saturday, November 25): free all ages date at Oxford Art Factory showcasing new acts Columbus, The Brave, Belle Haven, Eat Your Heart Out, Far Away Stables, The Beautiful Monument and Easy Life.

SummerSalt Bondi Beach (Sunday, November 26): new concert event on Bondi Beach with The Cat Empire and Xavier Rudd with market stalls, mobile food options and community cultural events.

ARIA Masterclass (Monday, November 27) at Telstra CIC. Aside from Zane Lowe’s keynote, a number of panels are to be announced.

[V] Island Party (Monday, November 27), the first of a series of sunset events around the Harbour. They’re not revealing the performer but we’re saying she/he is an ARIA award nominee.

 

Sydney venues can become an official part of the ARIA Week program by registering their shows on the ARIA Week website.

ARIA Week is supposed by the NSW Government. 

Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Adam Marshall said, “ARIA Week is a fantastic celebration of Australian music and the perfect time to see breakthrough artists perform and hear industry icons share their expertise.

“We’re delighted to host this incredible line-up of events and performances in Sydney.”
