Three Australian bands are among 56 acts from the UK, Europe and North America which are nominated for Best Live Act 2017 in the Association of Independent Music (AIM) Independent Music Awards in London.

DMA’s, POND and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are up against international names representing the best in independent music this year.

They include The xx, Stormzy, Run The Jewels, Passenger, Flaming Lips, Pixies, Christine and the Queens, DJ Shadow, Laura Marling, Dinosaur Jr, Mac DeMarco, Major Lazer, Richard Ashcroft, Future Island, Metronomy, Mogwai and The National.

Voting started yesterday and runs until June 27, and is held on September 5.

Lara Baker, AIM Awards organiser, said of this year’s event: “This will be the seventh year we’ve celebrated the outstanding talent and world-leading A&R of the UK’s independent sector and, come September 5, we’ll be honouring another diverse and exciting list of incredible artists and labels.

“The UK independent sector is home to some of the world’s most exciting and innovative artists and entrepreneurs, working across every possible genre, and the AIM Awards is a special moment to come together and celebrate their success.”
