Applications for two Australia Council music grants – Presentation & Promotion and New Works – close on Monday, May 5.
Presentation & Promotion provides up to $30,000 to support one-off projects that present, publish, distribute or market music of any style within Australia. These may include gigs, concerts, festivals, showcases and national tours, and publications that document or discuss aspects of music. International tours will not be considered in this category.
New Work offers up to $20,000 to support one-off creative projects of Australian music, sound art or media art, including: recording, composition, songwriting, research and development, creative development, and arranging. Those hoping to apply for a recording grant should note the guidelines state: "For applications involving recordings, we prioritise recordings of new Australian works, particularly those which have not been previously recorded. It is unusual to support an artist’s first recording in this category. Artists in the early stages of their career are encouraged to investigate the early career programs offered by the Australia Council."
