Bad Seeds, King Gizzard, Methyl Ethel up for UK’S AIM awards

Australia’s Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Methyl Ethel were nominated for the AIM (Association of Independent Music) Awards. They’re held in central London on September 5 for the seventh time. 

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds got three noms, as did grime star Stormzy, rapper Dave and singer, songwriter and guitarist Jane Weaver. Up for two are pop singer and electronic producer Sampha and rapper / actress Little Simz.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ Skeleton Tree is up for Independent Album of the Year, and they’re vying against:

Lovely Creatures: The Best of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (1984 – 2014) is in the running for Special Catalogue Release of the Year, up against the likes of Alice Coltrane, The Buzzcocks, Erasure and Steve Hillage. 

The Bad Seeds and Methyl Ethel are up against each other for Independent Track of the Year. The category’s full list is

Finally King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard could take home the trophy for Hardest Working Band or Artist - but to do that, they have to go past Little Simz, songwriter and guitarist Michael Chapman, grime rapper ShaoDow and Yorkshire electronica band Worriedaboutsatan.
