PRESS RELEASE:

BMG France has announced the acquisition of Tipping Music. The Tipping catalog contains French urban pop hits from the past years, such as ‘A 20 ans’ by Amel Bent. But the main asset in Tipping Music is Ben L’Oncle Soul’s catalogue. BMG France had already signed a worldwide publishing deal with Ben’s own publishing company (Enchanté) in the past year, which gives BMG the publishing rights to Ben L’Oncle Soul’s future work in addition to his back catalog.

Ben L’Oncle Soul (pictured) emerged in 2009 as one of the biggest annual pop/soul sensations in France. Deeply influenced by the Rhythm & Blues tradition of Otis Redding and Sam & Dave, Ben was a total newcomer then. His first output was the Soul Wash EP in 2009 in which his Rhythm & Blues version of the White Stripes’ ‘Seven Nation Army’ got him significant attention and airplay.

His self-titled debut album, released in 2010, is a unique mixture of Stax-style soul and pop. With its French lyrics, it appealed to both soul music afficionados and pop audiences. The album went Top 5 and sold 300,000 units in France (3x Platinum). The single “Soul Man” was one of the biggest hits of 2011; it has now become a regular of radio airplay, and is a future standard of French pop.

Ben is also famous for his fantastic stage act and toured extensively in 2011 and 2012 (250 gigs).

Ben L’Oncle Soul received the Prix Constantin Award in 2010, the NRJ Music Awards and the Globe de Crystal Award in 2011, plus five Victoires nominations and two Victoires Awards in 2011, and was nominated twice for the MTV Europe Awards in 2010 and 2011. The song ‘Soul Man’ was awarded Song of the Year at the Victoires Awards in 2011.

Ben’s second album A coup de rêves was released in August 2014. It debuted #1 in the French digital album charts and #9 in the physical album charts (Top 5 chart entry in cumulated sales). Ben has been touring again last year to promote his second album and will continue to do so in 2015. A Soul Wash Vol 2 EP is scheduled for later this year.
