International rights management company BMG has earned the title of #1 publisher in Germany with the year’s first half report indicating they own a 20.86% market share of the country’s singles - almost double their market share of 11.52% in the same period in 2013.

BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch told Music Week ,“This is the latest in a continuing series of milestones for BMG as we realise our vision of creating a new kind of artist-centric company. When we launched in 2008, some doubted whether we could compete with the established majors.”

BMG Germany’s international repertoire had a strong six months with tracks such as Waves (Robin Chulz Remix) by Mr Probz selling more than 500,000 units as well as Dark Horse by Katy Perry which features Juicy J (a BMG songwriter), selling more than 250,000 units. Most of its success however, came from local writers such as Rapper Kollegah, Andreas Bourani and Adam Kesselhaut. The German writers alone account for two-thirds of its market share.
