BMG is set to acquire Talpa Music BV, an EDM publisher which owns over 37,000 songs, including hits from heavyweights such as Tiësto, Afrojack, Pitbull, Will.i.am, Beyonce, and Nicky Romero.

In addition, BMG will also acquire Canal Music Publishing – the publishing house that exploits tracks written by contestants on various regional versions of The Voice – and a stake in Phrased Differently Music Ltd. and MusicDIRECTOR B.V. - a catalogue of production music and advertising jingles.

As well as the tracks it owns outright, Talpa also administers a catalogue of over half a million songs, including those from influential EDM labels such as Mixmash Records, Black Hole Recordings, and Hard With Style.

Music Week reports the acquisition will be finalised in the next few weeks.

BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch said of the deal, “This is a very significant acquisition of one of Europe’s leading music publishers. At one stroke it not only further builds our position in the Benelux, making us the leading publisher of local repertoire, it gives us access to leading international songwriters, particularly in the EDM category.”
