brendan maclean signs to harbour agency

Independent Australian artist Brendan Maclean has inked a new deal with local entertainment booking company The Harbour Agency, an arm of Mushroom Music Group.

Maclean made the announcement via his personal Twitter account yesterday.

Maclean told TMN that the signing gives him the confidence to "release my white knuckled grip on my music".

"I’m super proud of being an independent artist, I think everyone knows that, but after a while, you have to fire yourself and realise you’ll make better music if you’re not staying up for that extra hour going through paper work," he said.

"Honestly, I’m so glad Jeremy Sharp popped me that first e-mail."

Having signed with Universal Publishing in 2014, Maclean’s breakthrough single ‘Stupid’ elevated him on to the international platform.

A year later, Maclean released two home-produced EPs including a feature with Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer.

Independently released album funbang1 debuted at #4 on the Australian iTunes chart, while also reaching #2 on the AIR Chart behind new Atlantic/Warner signing Sia.

The Aussie has also collaborated with fellow Harbour client Ben Folds, as well as Reggie Watts, Amanda Palmer and Sarah Silverman for the comedy track, ‘On The Door’.

Maclean is also admired for his film work. His latest project ‘House Of Air’ caused controversy after racking up over 1.3 million hits in under a month, garnering both protests and acclaim from prominent publications such as Billboard.
