Hot 100

For seven weeks now Ed Sheeran has held #1 with Thinking Out Loud. Last week’s most promising track Blank Space by Taylor Swift hasn’t managed to topple the track but still holds #2 with a strong lead ahead of Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk. Ronson's track featuring Bruno Mars is now at #3 up from last week’s #7. Up at #4 is Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding’s Outside, which earns a new high point. One Direction manage to just make the Top 10 this week with Steal My Girl hitting #10. It’s the highest 1D have ever gotten on the TMN Hot 100 with the closest other single being Live While We’re Young, which peaked at #14 in 2010. Outside the Top 10, Nicki Minaj makes some impressive gains with Bed Of Lies featuring Skylar Grey hitting #18 up from #49. Jeremih’s Don’t Tell Em hits a new peak at #24, up from #31.

Aside from Minaj’s big leaps there have been many movers this week. First and foremost is a resurgence from MAGIC!’s Rude which jumps from #95 to #79, although it will probably fall further down the chart in coming weeks. Steve Aoki & will.i.am’s Born To Get Wild climbs to #68 following its debut at #100 last week. The most moved this week comes from Labrinth’s new single Jealous which is up at #46 from #99, a total of 53 places.

The chart has seen a lot of notable debuts this week. A debut at #20 comes from AronChupa’s I’m An Albatraoz, which is destined to be a radio hit. At #30 is an entry from Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP’s latest single Sugar Man. The last time they were in the Hot 100 was with We Speak No Americano which peaked at #16. The last notable debut comes at #49 from Marcus Santoro & The Potbelleez’s All The Way, which enters after one week of airplay.

ARIA Singles

It’s another very familiar Top 4 on the ARIA Singles chart this week with Taylor Swift’s Blank Space holding #1, Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk still at #2, Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud at #3 and Hilltop Hoods’ Cosby Sweater at #4. That said, there is some healthy movement at #5 with James Newton Howard’s The Hanging Tree jumping from last week’s #12. #6 sees a very high debut from AronChupa’s I’m An Albatraoz which also saw a high debut on the airplay chart. Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding’s Outside sees more success on this chart as well following a jump to #7 from #9. Outside the Top 10, Charli XCX’s Break The Rules hits a new peak at #16 up from #26. Jeremih’s Don’t Tell Em moves further up to #26 from #39 and Chet Faker’s Talk Is Cheap re-enters the chart at #31, no doubt a result of the recent press he has received during the ARIAs.

ARIA Albums

This week, AC/DC’s Rock Or Bust debuts at #1 on the ARIA Albums chart. This becomes the fifth #1 album to AC/DC’s name and has reached Platinum sales in the first week of release. The LP, produced by Brendan O’Brien at Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, marks the band's seventeenth studio album overall. The #1 debut has pushed Taylor Swift’s 1989 to #2 following two weeks interrupted at #1.  At #3 is Michael Buble’s Christmas which is up from #10 and well on its way to its previous highpoint of #1 which might happen as soon as next week. At #7 is a debut from Justice Crew with their debut album Live By The Words. Frozen’s soundtrack moves back up to #11 following its triple Platinum certification over the weekend.  One other high debut enters in the Top 20, Chet Faker’s iTunes Session which entered at #18.
