Australian-based executives and events held their own in the nominations for international live music Pollstar Awards. These are organised by US-based global live music trade publication Pollstar, with winners announced in late February.

Michael Chugg – Founder of Chugg Entertainment – and Live Nation Australasia President Michael Coppel are up against each other for International Promoter of the Year.

The category includes heavyweights such as Phil Bowdery  of Live Nation UK, Barrie Marshall of the USA’s Marshall Arts, Simon Moran of UK’s SJM Concerts and Germany’s Marek Lieberberg of Marek Lieberberg Konzertagentur.

Sydney/LA-based Roger Davies, who guided Pink’s career to the top (after revitalising those of Tina Turner and Olivia Newton-John) is up for Personal Manager of the Year. Also nominated are Ken Levitan (Kings of Leon, The Fray), Steve Jensen & Bradford Cobb (Katy Perry), Coran Capshaw (Phish, Dave Matthews Band), Clarence Spalding (Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts), Jonathan Kessler (Depeche Mode) and Dalton Sim (Guster, fun.).

Bluesfest Byron Bay is nominated for International Music Festival of the Year, alongside Glastonbury Festival (UK) Lollapalooza Chile (Chile), Rock In Rio (Brazil), Roskilde Festival (Denmark) and Tomorrowland (Belgium).

Gonged for Best New Major Concert Venue is Perth Arena, alongside three new venues in America, and one from Leeds, UK.
