City of Parramatta looking at more live gigs

In the wake of its recent appointment of Amanda Chadwick as Administrator, the City of Parramatta in Sydney is looking at revitalising its live music scene. It’s teaming with the Live Music Office for a 12-month initiative.

It’s advertised for a part-time (three days a week) Live Music Programming Coordinator with experience in the live music industry to work with venues, businesses and local government to deliver the Amplify and Live And Local programs.

Amanda Chadwick said, "A vibrant live music scene will perfectly complement Parramatta’s thriving restaurant precinct and will support the development of small bars. It is expected to provide an economic boost to the city through increased patronage and visitor spend, particularly as part of the night time economy.”

Parramatta is also the new home for Sydney’s short film Tropfest which, on its 25^th anniversary, will be staged at Parramatta Park in February. It is expected that over 50,000 will attend the event, providing major tourism benefits for Parramatta and injecting at least $2 million into the local economy.
