Cold Chisel are releasing a live album and DVD next month, titled The Live Tapes Vol. 1: Hordern Pavilion. April 18, 2012. The first release on their own label, Cold Chisel Music (through Universal Music), it will be the first of a series of live recordings.

The Hordern Pavilion set, due on November 22, comes as a deluxe 2CD/1 DVD pack, a double CD, a Blu-Ray and Standard DVD or via digital download.

It was recorded during a run of gigs that Chisel did off the back of the Gold-certified No Plans album. These came some months after their record breaking 36-date Light The Nitro tour which drew 300,000.

"That handful of smaller gigs we did last year were really special,” recalled guitarist Ian Moss. “It’ll be good to have one out there for everyone who wasn’t able to get along to those shows.”

Singer Jimmy Barnes added, "We were really road-hardened by the time of that Hordern gig because we’d just finished that big tour a few months prior. Adding a few new songs in the set for those launch gigs kept things fresh for us. Listening and watching it back, it’s raw and primal, warts and all - like the best rock and roll should be."

The night of the Hordern show saw Sydney bathed in lighting during a huge thunderstorm.
