Ahead of her showcase to the industry at SXSW Sydney, Ashli signs with Concord Music Publishing ANZ on a worldwide basis, The Music Network can exclusively reveal.

The Western Sydney-based, New Jersey-born singer and songwriter is enjoying a purple patch.

At the 2023 Australian Women in Music Awards (AWMA), held Sept. 27 in Meanjin/Brisbane, she collected the emerging artist award, beating out finalists Jem Cassar-Daley and Merinda Dias-Jayasinha.

And her debut EP, Only One, was shortlisted for best independent soul/R&B album or EP at the 2023 AIR Awards, held August in Adelaide.

To celebrate her new publishing pact, Ashli (real name: Ashley Dawes) releases the new single “New Feelings,” a warm-and-cozy breakup tune.

“The desire to work with Ashli was a no-brainer for me, I connected with her music immediately,” comments Hazel Gordon, A&R manager at Concord Music Publishing ANZ.

“Ashli’s songwriting is steeped in knowledge far beyond her years, she’s a complete natural and I’m thrilled to be a part of her journey.”

The fast-rising artist has already performed headline shows at Sydney Opera House for VIVID Sydney, Bigsound, Phoenix Central Park and at SXSW Austin in March of this year, leading to her selection for the inaugural SXSW Sydney later this month.

“What a dream it's been to sign with Concord Music Publishing,” comments Ashli in a statement.

“I had my first U.S. writing trip in March this year and it’s safe to say that Concord already feels like family. The level of care and attention Hazel and the team have given me as a writer is unmatched. I couldn’t feel more supported and ready to grow as a songwriter. I'm so incredibly grateful.”

In August 2022, Concord acquired Australasian music publisher Native Tongue, forming Concord Music Publishing ANZ, based in Melbourne with employees in Sydney and Auckland.

Since then, the music company has signed the likes of Richard Clapton, Luude, Coterie and SACHI.

The global business is headquartered in Nashville, TN, and owns or administers more than 800,000 copyrighted musical works.
