In a move they claim will "empowers indie labels to move into publishing", Cooking Vinyl’s CV America is launching a new publishing services model, which will include an outsourced A&R network.
Basically, CV America (an umbrella organisation launched in 2012 to run Cooking Vinyl’s American operations) will handle the day-to-day publishing operations for the independent labels they align with, while the labels focus on A&R. The goal is to provide their specialist knowledge to independent labels – many of whom are already shifting into offering 360 deals and more complete service to their artists – in order to allow labels to control publishing and diversity their business. CV America’s outsourced A&R network will bring potential publishing clients to CV America.
CV America’s CEO Erik Gilbert says of the new enterprise: “These are exactly the sorts of deals that we envisaged being able to make when we formed CV America. Having a US publishing division has opened up a lot of exciting opportunities for the CV Group – not least our new label partnerships and A&R network – which we are continuing to explore.”
Since its launch in 2012, CV America has been the one-stop , providing strategic services and administering the Group’s publishing operations in the territory.
