In a scene out of the Almost Famous movie, blues rock singer and songwriter Dallas Frasca has announced a Hitch To The Sticks festival-on-wheels concept.
It involves 30 acts in a bus travelling 710 kms over three days visiting ten events through North-East Victoria.
Six of them will be secret locations, four are public events. Some venues have never hosted a live gig before.
The trek is open to 50 members of the public.
According to Frasca, the idea is to put the musical spotlight back on regional towns.
The trek begins in the Melbourne central business district on Friday March 16.
The bus heads to Violet Town, Lima, Myrrhee, Tatong, Thoona, Wangaratta and Moyhu before returning to Melbourne on Sunday March 18.

Those who can’t make the bus trip can join the revellers at the four public events including Wangaratta Council’s sixth Wangaratta Down By The River Festival which draws 2000 and the Thoona Wheelie Bin Championships.
Those on the bus also get a hedge maze “artist hunt” where punters must follow the music to discover live local artists playing throughout the maze; a rock & roll slumber party in cabin style accommodation (limited VIP upgrades available); celebrity hitchhikers and an intimate live performance by “a very special international guest.”
The first two of the 30 acts were dropped this week – reggae drummer, composer and Melbourne Ska Orchestra conductor Nicky Bomba, and 21-year old Beechworth-born singer songwriter Liv Cartledge.
It has taken Frasca who was born in Wangaratta, and co-organiser Renee Delahunty ten months to pull the travelling festival together.
“This is just the beginning,” she says, with plans to hold similar treks in the future through Victoria’s south coast and Gippsland areas.
