double j pick of the week jeen

This is the first we've heard from Jeen, but if she has any more songs like this up her sleeve then we want to hear much, much more. This is sunny, bright, ebullient pop without being sickly sweet and disposable. Jeen's voice is perfectly casual and the melodies she has concocted here are beyond contagious.

Put it on and try to be unhappy - even the most miserable grump will find it challenging. Best thing is, it's under three minutes long so you can totally listen to it ten times in a row and it's no big deal.

If you want more, her debut LP Tourist (Deluxe Edition) is out in at the end of June. She also played in a band called Cookie Duster with Brendan Canning of Broken Social Scene, who are worth checking out as well. But you'll probably just end up coming back to NY Island.
