Drake continues to hit new milestones in both the US and UK charts.
In the US, both the Views album and One Dance (ft WizKid and Kyla) spent their tenth (non-consecutive) weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200.
The magazine reported that Drake is the fourth artist since 1963 to have an album and single that ruled the top spots for ten weeks each.
The others were Adele’s 25 and Hello in November and December 2015.
Santana’s Supernatural (October 1999) which was #1 for 12 weeks yielded two hits. They were Smooth (ft. Rob Thomas) that began a 12-week run from October 1999 and Maria Maria (ft. The Product G&B) whose 10-week reign began on April 8, 2000.
Whitney Houston’s The Bodyguard soundtrack remained at 20 weeks at the summit from December 12, 1992. Its feature single I Will Always Love You had a 14 week run, beginning on November 28, 1992.
The latter two artists achieved their sales through physical only. Drake’s and Adele’s were made up of physical and streaming.

In the UK, One Dance is heading to a 15th consecutive #1. The Midweek charts indicate it’ll still remain at the summit when the official charts come out tomorrow (Friday). If so, the Canadian rapper will tie with Wet Wet Wet’s 1994’s Love Is All Around.
The all-time record is held by Bryan Adams’ 1991 smash (Everything I Do) I Do It For You which stayed at the top for 16 weeks.
The others on the UK Midweek chart were Jonas Blue feat. JP Cooper’s Perfect Strangers at #2, Calum Scott’s Dancing On My Own at #3, Chainsmokers feat. Daya’s Don’t Let Me Down at 4th spot and Clean Bandit feat. Louisa Johnson at #5 with Tears.
Sydney-based 5 Seconds Of Summer had the highest new entry at #12 with Girls Talk Boys from the Ghostbusters soundtrack, giving them their sixth UK Top 40 hit.
Melbourne’s The Avalanches Wildflower debuted at #10, giving them their second consecutive Top 10 in the U.K.
While Drake’s new collaboration with US rapper French Montana, No Shopping, sees light of day and expected to hit the top, the Canadian is also said to be working in the studio on a track with Iggy Azalea. There’s not much info on the track but it includes the lines “Drake dancing to 9 in the kitchen - This is what 1.2 mil looks like."
Drake is certainly enjoying his current success. He recently posted on Instagram a letter he sent to his mother as a struggling 19-year-old, about the problems he was facing in cracking the industry and the state of his finances.
