Last night, Frontier Touring was in talks with Ed Sheeran’s management about the possibility of adding even more Australian shows.

Tickets went on sale, staggered, yesterday. 170,000 tickets disappeared in Melbourne in two hours for three Etihad Stadium shows, on March 10, 11 and 12. Frontier Touring has not ruled out a fourth.

55,000 tickets for the March 3 WA show at the Perth Stadium went in an hour, with Frontier issuing a “sold out” statement.

To the dismay of WA punters, tickets priced between $74.64 and $166.34 were being marked up on resale sites at $2,000.

As reported by TMN, the new WA Government has promised to crack down on scalping at major music and sports events but has not indicated a time frame.

The last time Sheeran played Perth, two years ago, he sold out the 32,000-seat nib Stadium.

The first Brisbane show (March 20) sold out, but the second, March 21, still has general admission tickets available, Frontier reported.

In New Zealand, two of three Auckland shows sold out in half an hour while the first of two Dunedin shows disappeared in 15 minutes.

Within hours, $159 tickets were being resold for $434.

If all the New Zealand shows hit full capacity, Sheeran will play to total audience of 150,000 in the country.

Frontier Touring is expected to update the sales figures of the ANZ Stadium shows in Sydney today. They went on sale at 6pm AEST yesterday.

It will be interesting to see how many extra shows are added in Australia. If Sheeran and Frontier plan to beat Adele’s Australian tally of 600,000 earlier this year, they need at least two more new shows. Sheeran is currently trailing at 500,000.
