entries for apra amcoss the lighthouse award for female music managers now open

APRA AMCOS has today invited female music managers or self-managed female artist from Victoria to apply for The Lighthouse Award.

The award was established in memory of pioneering female manager Linda Gebar who worked with The Killjoys, Frente and The Blackeyed Susans in the '90s.

Gebar, who booked the Punters Club, worked at PBS FM, had a record label and worked at APRA AMCOS died tragically in 2008 after the birth of her second child.

The Lighthouse Award is therefore awarded, along with $5,000, to a female Victorian music manager who exhibits passion, creativity and integrity.

Gebar was a believer in the local music season, and the community that surrounded it. She was a mentor and colleague to many, and APRA AMCOS say the award exists to continue Linda's work, "and support a forward-thinking manager who is dedicated to Australian music."

Previous recipients of the award include Jen Cloher, Bonnie Dalton, Bernadette Ryan and Charlotte Abroms.

Other requirements of entry include being 18 years or over, and demonstrated experience as a manager, as well as a clear commitment to sustaining a career in the music industry.
