entries open for global sync and sound design awards

The annual global awards held to celebrate exceptional music and sound design in the media is accepting entries.

The third International Music+Sound Awards are open to anyone who contributed to the film, television, commercial or gaming industries where music or sound design plays an essential role. The projects must have been broadcast or released between October 2013 and 27th March 2015.

Music+Sound is the only global awards programme to cover the full range of music and sound design disciplines; the categories cover entries from television and cinema commercials, non-broadcast or viral advertising, branding and title sequence, feature and short films, television programmes and computer games.

The Awards categories are: best original composition, best sound design, best sync / use of existing music and best re-record / adaptation.

The Awards’ co-founder Nick Payne told TMN the awards are fast becoming the international mark of excellence for the music and sound industries.

“We started the Music+Sound Awards because we felt the other Awards festivals for advertising, film, television and gaming neglected the craft of applied music and sound design and didn’t fully recognise the importance of a great soundtrack and what it can do for a production.

“The Music+Sound Awards has become a very popular awards programme in the UK and is now developing a strong audience for itself globally because we fully recognise and reward those that excel in the fields of creative use of music and sound.”

Payne told TMN the Awards receive entries from advertising agencies, production companies, directors and game developers.

“We have noticed as the Music+Sound Awards has grown in popularity that those that buy and commission music and sound design have become more and more interested in entering their work.

“This is a big breakthrough for the industry if you ask me and shows that the ‘clients’ really do care about the soundtrack and are prepared to get involved with our awards programme to see it rewarded properly because they really do believe in what they have created.”

Entry deadline is Friday March 27th 2015. Further details can be found, and submissions made, here.
