3x ARIA-winning rock band The Superjesus have signed to local independent label Social Family Records, TMN can exclusively reveal.
The first offering from the band (Sarah McLeod, Stuart Rudd, Tim Henwood and Paul Berryman) will be new single The Setting Sun, released digitally on 19 June and serviced to radio on 9 June.
The Setting Sun will feature on a much-awaited upcoming EP, which the band are currently recording. Due for release later in the year, the EP marks the first studio opus from the band in 12 years and follows 2003’s ARIA #14-charting LP Rock Music.
The Superjesus said: "The band’s amped to be back in the game with new material, it's been a long time coming. The Social Family Records crew are sharp and creative and we are all very excited to see what possibilities unfold from here on.”
The Superjesus are currently on tour with now label mates Baby Animals, for the sold-out She Who Rocks tour. The She Who Rocks project, dedicated to the women who shaped rock ‘n’ roll, released a compilation album in March, with $1 from every album sold given to the Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation.
Like almost all of Social Family Records’ signings The Superjesus were previously signed to a major label, having released their last three multi-Platinum records through Warner Music.
The Superjesus join Social Family Records’ roster of Baby Animals frontwoman Suze DeMarchi, Baby Animals, Steve Balbi, Dallas Frasca, Reece Mastin, Amber Lawrence, Troy Kemp, Jason Owen, Christine Anu, and David Campbell.
