Community station FBi has announced that FBi Social will be closing its doors after one final show on Saturday November 1.

Initially a three month pop up venue, FBi Social has seen more than 1000 local artists take the stage and has seen over 40,000 punters come through the doors.

Located on Level 2 of Kings Cross Hotel, the space is set to continue operating as a home for live music. Solotel, owner of the Kings Cross Hotel will be re-opening the space as a bandroom on Saturday November 8. The Kings Cross Bandroom will be hosting local and national talent and offer up a space for up-and-coming bands to practice, perform and play.

Artists who have previously graced the Social stage include DZ Deathrays, Deep Sea Arcade, Ball Park Music, Bleeding Knees Club, The Preatures, Elizabeth Rose, RUFUS, Husky, Palms, Chet Faker, Zeahorse, Horrorshow, Courtney Barnett, Kirin J Callinan, World’s End Press, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Jonathan Boulet, Wolf & Cub, Dappled Cities, Oliver Tank, Oscar Key Sung, Kilter and the Jezabels,

FBi Radio President Cassandra Wilkinson stated, “We’re extremely proud that FBi Social has provided young and emerging local musicians, comedians and artists in this city a place to perform, often for the first time in front of a live audience. Solotel have been the most fantastic partners and we share a commitment to fostering live music in this city. We’re so glad to see this beautiful intimate room stay open as a live music venue“.

The closing of FBi Social will now allow the station to focus on projects like FBi Click, a new digital station for electronic music, and Northern Lights, a national competition that has allowed winners LUCIANBLOMKAMP and The Walking Who to play at the Iceland Airwaves Festival.

World’s End Press, Mansionair and FBi DJs will perform at the final party on November 1.
