Spotify has released a set of new local and global figures, coinciding with its second birthday in Australia. They reveal that Flume is the most-streamed act on home soil.

Flume takes the title of the Most Streamed Artist for a second year, his eponymous album also happens to be top the Top 5 Most Streamed Albums list. Local Vance Joy and his single Riptide also takes the title Top Streamed Local Track.

The new global figures show that Spotify now has 40 million active users alongside 10 million paying subscribers, which are spread across the company’s 56 different markets.

Spotify Australia and New Zealand Managing Director Kate Vale says, "Australia is the 6th biggest music market in the world and it’s evident why. We’re a nation with an immense passion for music and Spotify is proud to be part of that. 2 years have flown by - this year alone we’ve rolled out a sleek new design, improved functionality, and free Spotify on mobile and tablet devices, making it easier to listen to, discover and share more music than ever before. Thank you Australia for making us the number 1 music streaming destination of choice.”

Spotify hosted a party to celebrate its birthday at Sydney’s Standard Bowl last night.
