Gang Of Youths, currently based in London, will make their debut on the program with two separate performances on the episode.
Briggs will team up with Troy Cassar-Daley to perform their recent collaboration 'Shadows', with newcomers KYE and flowerkid also confirmed to play their recent singles.
Each week, The Sound enlists a few local artists to help pay tribute to an iconic Australian act. This week, the act in question is INXS with Goodrem and Josh Teskey performing 'Never Tear Us Apart'.
The third season of The Sound marked the first since the passing of its founder, Michael Gudinski.
Ahead of its premiere, Susan Heymann, The Sound's artist programmer, told The Music Network that the series will be more focused on performances as opposed to previous seasons.
“We’re just going to be focused on the performances and on the talent,” Heymann said.

“We haven’t got the news segment. We haven’t got the new music segment with that shorter duration. We just wanted to maximise the number of performances we could include in that 28-minute episode.”
The season finale of The Sound's third season airs at 5:30pm on Sunday, December 12.
