A GoFundMe page has been set-up by friends of WA musician Bobby Burgess, after he was struck down by a car in the US.

He previously was a member of bands such as Long Gone Midnight, The Scotch of Saint JamesAbbe May, GUM, Shiny Joe Ryan and Drop Macumba, and now plays with Brooklyn group The Pros.

"Our friend Bobby Burgess was hit by a car Sunday morning May 20th. We don't know anything about the driver aside from the fact that they are from out of town and driving without a license," writes friend and GoFundMe page organiser Colin Riley McCombs.

"His shoulder, his leg and a bone in his ear are broken. He also has severe brain trauma.

"He's been in the Intensive Care Unit for six days and was finally moved out of the ICU into a regular ward to await surgery which is tentatively set for Tuesday as long as the swelling in his head doesn't keep growing."

They have already doubled their initial goal of $3,000 - clocking $6,380 at the time of writing - and had the requested bed frame donated, which will enable him to move in and out of bed more easily.

Funds will go towards replacing Burgess' computer, which was damaged during the incident, and alleviate the financial burden of "rent, food, medical supplies".

Everyone seems to be keeping in high spirits, bringing him the comforts of home: "Fortunately, Chip has been by his bedside every day leaving only to go to work and to grab him some Vegemite from home for when he can eat again."
