google adds updates from musicians to search results through google posts

Google will now show images, videos, GIFs and text posted directly from popular musicians to the google knowledge panel directly in search results.

The option is the latest update to Google Posts, which was opened up to all Google My Business users last June.

The new feature is available for all musicians with a Knowledge Panel - which allows them to get verified and start posting at posts.google.com

“When you look up [participating] musicians, you’ll find updates from them in their Search results, inside their Knowledge Panel," said Google in a statement.

"There, you can find images, videos, GIFs and text posted directly by the artist you’re searching for. You can easily tell if the updates are from a verified musician—posts will be marked with a blue checkmark next to their name.”

The update seems to be conceding that social is eating into search traffic, with Facebook now facilitating over 2 billion searches on a daily basis.

"This is a strong power move by Google to increase time on site and a very exciting time for all who play in the digital space," said Jaden Social agency director Sam Koroktov.
