Australian music annual Gusher has announced their second issue, and launched a pre-order campaign on Pozible to ensure they can cover the printing costs.
The magazine, created in 2016 by then-students Isabella Trimboli and Juliette Younger, focuses on "rock’n’roll as told by women", with content entirely created by women and non-binary creatives.
The 2017 issue includes interviews with Australian acts like Ecca Vandal and Two Steps On The Water, as well as in-depth features on Angel Olsen, Mitski, Downtown Boys and more.
"Gusher is important because it’s the only Australian music magazines that solely focuses around elevating the perspectives of women and non-binary music fans and critics," Trimboli tells TMN. "Throughout history, these voices and perspectives have been silenced and/or pushed to the fringes, despite these groups of people playing an integral role in these cultures.
"Gusher is also important because its annual print format gives our super talented writers space to create nuanced, thoughtful, long-form pieces of music journalism that go beyond hot takes.
Younger, who also works in publicity for the Spunk/Caroline group, says that high-quality printing and production is an important part of the Gusher philosophy as well.
"So much of contemporary music culture is characterised by its temporality and intangibility. By creating an annual print mag filled with long-form writing and beautiful photography, we’re creating a collectible artefact that’s form suggests a more thoughtful, considered way to treat music and music criticism.

The pair also handle all facets of creating the publication: from editing andorganising shoots, to design andpublicity.
"When we started out, our experience in these areas were very minimal, so creating the magazine has really pushed us out of our comfort zones and has opened us up to entirely new worlds," says Trimboli.
"We also learnt how much there was a real need for a publication like Gusher in Australia," adds Younger.
"The ecstatic, warm reception we’ve received from the music community has kept us going despite the obstacles of financing a print magazine in 2017."
You can preorder Gusher #2 now through their Pozible page.
