Guvera, the Australia-based streaming service which was launched in 2008, has expanded across a series of Asian countries in a bid to compete against dominant market players such as Spotify.
Following previously-reported moves into Indonesia, it has now expanded into Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. Significantly, however, it has formed a partnership with Lenovo which will see Guvera pre-installed on the smartphone manufacturer’s devices. Lenovo is currently building its consumer base across 160 countries.
A Guvera spokesperson boasts that the service is “programmed globally but tuned locally” with an emphasis on locally-produced music.
Guvera has an ad-funded tier that offers users unlimited access to shuffled playlists for free on all devices, including smartphones and tablets. Its platinum offering costs A$11.99 (US$11.30) per month and gives users on-demand music without ads.
