PRESS RELEASE:

IFPI, the organisation that represents the recording industry worldwide, has appointed Jørn Dalchow, managing director of Norwegian independent record company daWorks, to its Main Board.

Jørn Dalchow has more than 25 years’ experience in the music business, working for 13 years in Norway’s largest record company PolyGram/Universal Music as product manager, product developer, marketing manager and A&R manager. He is also a graphic designer who has designed more than 300 album and 500 singles covers.

At daWorks, which was established in 2000, he represents artists including a1, Carina Dahl, Erlend Bratland and Ovi. daWorks is one of Norway’s most successful independent record companies, and operates a sister music publishing company, helping it develop artists and songwriters in Norway for the international market.

In 1991, Dalchow established Norway’s first national radio airplay chart. In 2004, he published a book about the industry in Norway called Help, I’m In The Pop Business! He is also a highly respected lecturer on the music business.

Dalchow will represent European independent record companies on the IFPI Main Board. It is the first time Norway has had a representative on the IFPI Main Board.

Frances Moore, chief executive of IFPI, says: "I am pleased to welcome Jørn Dalchow to IFPI’s Main Board where he will represent European independent record labels. He has a strong track record of working with artists in one of the markets that has most transformed over the last 15 years. His perspective in discussions at the IFPI Main Board will be invaluable."

I hope I can bring some of the learnings we have made in Norway to the table as we discuss how artists and producers can best prosper in a fast-changing digital world."
