IKEA to discontinue vinyl-friendly shelves, thousands of milk crates to go missing

Just as vinyl is once again dominating, IKEA has announced it is discontinuing the hugely-popular Expedit line of shelving, which – as music fans know all too well – is the best way to house vinyl collections.

The news first broke in Germany, which led to the formation of a Facebook page in protest, attracting more than seven thousand followers.

IKEA has announced the similar Kallax line of shelving, which will fit vinyl. However, as those who spend way too much time pondering this sort of thing have pointed out, the sides are a lot thinner, meaning they may not be able to support the considerable weight of vinyl - not to mention how terribly they will throw out your décor.
