Adelaide will once again become the centre of the indie music industry this winter, as the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR) and the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) announce the full program for a powerhouse conference double-header: Indie-Con Australia and the inaugural A2IM Indie Week Australian Edition.

Running from Wednesday, July 30th to Friday, August 1st, the dual event will host 24 sessions across three days, including panels, workshops, and one-on-one meetings. With over 90 speakers and more than 70 participating companies, the event promises to deliver vital industry insights and global networking opportunities for independent artists, labels, and music professionals.

A2IM’s first international Indie Week will spotlight key industry players from Oh Boy Records, Empire, Hopeless Records, Rough Trade, FADER Label, Secretly Group (US), Symphonic Distribution, and more. Discussions will tackle timely topics such as Global Growth: Expanding Traditional Markets, Glocalisation, The Back Catalog Blueprint: From Old Tracks to New Profits, and Deal Making in the Age of AI. The program (which can be found in full here) also features a keynote from Jody Whelan (Oh Boy Records) and an in-depth conversation with A2IM President and CEO, Dr. Richard James Burgess MBE.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be launching our first-ever international Indie Week in collaboration with AIR Australia. This marks a major milestone for A2IM and the global independent community," Burgess said. "We’re deeply grateful to Maria Amato and the entire AIR team for their partnership, and to the South Australian Government for their visionary support. Adelaide will be a vibrant stage for the kind of cross-border connection, innovation, and celebration that defines our sector.”

On the home front, Indie-Con Australia returns with a formidable lineup of speakers from Mushroom Music, Flying Nun, MERLIN, Future Classic, Spotify, Amazon, YouTube, Support Act, APRA AMCOS, Sounds Australia, and more. Local topics will range from Fan Development and The Future of Physical Music to deep-dives into the careers of Emily Wurramara and Sycco, along with practical sessions like Meet Your Next Producer and a spotlight on New Zealand’s thriving indie scene.

The conference will close out with a music industry debate and networking drinks, followed by MusicSA’s Scouted showcase, highlighting emerging talent from South Australia’s local scene.

Indie-Con also coincides with AIR’s annual invite-only AIR Awards, set to take place at Adelaide Town Hall on July 31st.

Registration and Tickets are online now, with discounted pricing available for AIR members.
