international songwriting competition launches two new promotions

The International Songwriting Competition will be launching two special promotions, Song Your Heart Out and Pick Your Cause, which will be open to songwriters of all skill levels from around the world.

Entries will be open from November 18 to December 4, with the Sing Your heart Out category emphasising on all facets of love and heartbreak, while Pick Your Cause covers social causes. Both bands and solo acts are encouraged to take part.

There are a bevy of incentives for songwriters to enter, including free Radio Airplay accounts, inclusion of one’s song on Jango.com’s Independent Love Songs and Songs of Social Cause stations and a grand prize of $25,000. Everyone that participates will also receive 100 free spins per entry to their Radio Airplay account whether a new or existing member.

Songwriters will also be automatically entered into the ISC 2014 competition.

A panel of high profile recording artists and music industry executives will be judging entries, with this year’s panel including Natasha Bedingfield, Martina McBride, Fela Kuti, Jeff Castelaz (President, Elektra Records), Alison Donald (Co-President, Columbia Records UK) and Rex Rideout (VP of A&R, Motown Records).

Past winners of the competition include Australian and New Zealand acts Gin Wigmore, Gotye, Kimbra, Passenger and Kasey Chambers.
