Is Kanye West starting his own streaming service?

Documents obtained by The Blast reveal he filed trademark papers on November 2 for an entity called Yeezy Sound.

It includes rights to the “streaming of music, audio, images, video, and other multimedia content, over the Internet.”

West could be starting a rival to Jay-Z’s streaming platform Tidal, which he helped to launch when they were best friends.

He’s currently in the middle of a battle with Tidal to get US$3.5 million in bonuses and unpaid advances for 2016’s The Life of Pablo album.

Jay-Z name-checks the falling-out on the 4:44 track ’Kill Jay Z’, annoyed that his family had been dragged into the dispute.

In 2014, West seemed frustrated with existing streaming services, saying that they seemed to be more about power games than the actual music.

“The Tidal Apple Music beef is f—ing up the music game,” he tweeted.

After his emotional meltdown late last year, West seems to be back in the fast lane, calmer and more collected than before, according to friends.

He’s produced Pusha T’s King Push, made a surprise appearance onstage with Kid Cudi in Chicago and also appears on G.O.O.D. artist, Cy-Hi Da Prynce’s latest song ‘Dat Side’.

A new album is set to drop in the first half of 2018, which is when Yeezy Sound is expected to launch.
