PRESS RELEASE:

Artist and songwriter Joe Jonas, the front man of Republic Records band DNCE, has signed an exclusive, worldwide publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), it was announced today by Jody Gerson, Chairman and CEO of UMPG.

UMPG will represent Jonas’ new songs for DNCE including their smash debut single, “Cake By The Ocean.” The single has gone platinum in the U.S., has been Top 10 at pop radio and Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Internationally, “Cake By The Ocean” also went Top 10 on iTunes in over 10 countries, and has generated over 150 million streams on Spotify. The song is Jonas’ third Top 10 hit, making him one of a handful of artists who have earned a Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 as a solo artist, and with two groups (DNCE and The Jonas Brothers).

“It takes a very special artist to achieve worldwide success in one group, and then to achieve that same kind of success again in another one. Joe Jonas is that rare talent, having scored hits as a singer and songwriter first with the Jonas Brothers and now with DNCE. His creativity, hard work and passion are remarkable and I’m thrilled to have him join UMPG’s roster of great artists and writers," said Gerson.

“I’ve had the opportunity to work with the team at UMPG from the inception of DNCE and they’ve been an essential part of breaking the band. This deal with them further solidifies our relationship and allows me to continue to stay true to my vision and what I love most, in addition to where I’m taking DNCE,” said Jonas.

“I am very happy for Joe, and am thankful that Universal publishing is coming on board to be our global partner in this next phase of Joe’s career. Joe’s ability to push himself to evolve as an artist is inspiring and I believe that he’s just getting started on what’s to come,” said Phil McIntyre, CEO and Founder of Philymack.

DNCE will open for Selena Gomez on her North American tour through the summer.
