The Josh Pyke Partnership is returning for its fourth year. In conjunction with APRA AMCOS, a grand prize of $7,500 will be awarded to the winning artist.

The partnership intends to provide a platform for upcoming Australian musicians to launch their careers. Along with the prize money, the winner will also receive mentorship from Josh Pyke and the chance to meet Wonderlick Entertainment Manager Gregg Donovan and Select Music’s Steven Wade.

“I’m very excited to be announcing the JP Partnership, in collaboration with APRA AMCOS again for 2017,” says Pyke, a Sydney-born singer-songwriter.

“This will be its fourth year, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what amazing talent we can add to the excellent list of recipients so far! Thanks as always to APRA AMCOS for their support. I’m looking forward to digging in!”

To further aid the development of prize winners’ career, the partnership will encourage the creation of a business plan, a valuable tool for any artist who intends to sustain a career in the music industry.

Past winner of the Josh Pyke Partnership, Alex Lahey, has achieved a significant amount since being awarded the partnership in 2016.

“Winning the Josh Pyke Partnership last year meant so much to me,” Lahey says.

“It made getting a foot in the door of the national touring circuit financially viable and allowed me to get advice from some of the Australian industry’s leading figures, including Josh himself.

“To have been given support for my career in its early stages from one of Australia’s most successful musicians was an extremely encouraging gesture and I am so grateful to have forged a relationship with Josh that will see me seek his advice and expertise well into the future. Thank you Josh!”

Lahey has released her debut EP and has toured across the country, performing at last year’s Splendour in the Grass. She has locked in a host of upcoming international dates in February and March including numerous shows in the UK and SXSW in the US.

Entries for the Josh Pyke Partnership are now open and will close at 5:00pm March 3. The winner will be announced on June 5. To enter, applicants are required to submit a business plan outlining how they would use the $7,500 grant.
