PRESS RELEASE:

The 2016 Queensland Music Awards, presented by BOQ and Hutchinson Builders, are thrilled to announce a diverse range of music and media identities who have been enlisted to form the judging panel for the popular awards.

Representing an outstanding breadth and depth of experience the group consists of two international music industry executives who sit alongside some of the country’s most knowledgeable and influential figures in their field. 

With entries closing midnight Sunday December 6, the state’s original songwriters have limited time to submit their work across Music Video, Pop, Rock, Blues/Roots, Country, Urban, Folk/Singer Songwriter, World, Jazz, Electronic/Dance, Heavy, Schools (Grade 6 – 12) and Children’s Music categories. Emerging songwriters will also be eligible for a new set of cash prizes sponsored by Bank Of Queensland.

The annual Queensland Music Awards, an initiative by QMusic and supported by APRA AMCOS, is a state-wide search for the best and most innovative homegrown songwriters and musicians.

The BOQ People’s Choice Awards - Most Promising Male Songwriter ($1000), Female Songwriter ($1000) and Songwriting Team ($2000) will be open to general public voting in February 2016.

The Queensland Music Awards ceremony will take place at Brisbane Powerhouse on Monday 21 March 2016. Tickets will be available to the general public early next year.
