LA-natives The Calling are heading to Australia for their first ever mainland tour down-under, proving early noughties nostalgia is in fashion.
Lead singer Alex Band (pictured) and his rock cohorts will hit Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Fremantle this November.
The Calling saw massive international success with the debut album release of Camino Palmero in July 2001, which has sold over 5-million copies worldwide.
Their debut single Wherever You Will Go remains their most recognised and unforgettable smash hit, topping the Billboard Adult Charts for 23 weeks - the second longest-running #1 in the chart’s history.
Wherever You Will Go, which peaked at #5 on ARIA Single Chart, was #45 on the 2002 ARIA End of Year Singles Chart and can still be heard on Australian radio today, with rotation on SCA’s Triple M and ARN’s Pure Gold networks.
Named the #1 song of the decade on the Adult Pop Charts by Billboard Magazine, this single remains, to this day, a radio favourite around the globe. The YouTube video has over 149-million streams and the song was cemented into noughties popular culture with synchs in Coyote Ugly, Love Actually and Dawson’s Creek.
The Calling also achieved Top 40 chart positions with singles, Adrienne, Things Will Go My Way and Our Lives, which was featured in the closing ceremony of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
2016 has seen vocalist Alex Band back in the studio working on new material for "a highly anticipated" forthcoming release early in 2017.
Promoter, Unbreakable Touring, have promised Australian fans will get the chance to hear some of this new material, alongside their now-classic hits.
The November tour begins in Adelaide on Thursday 17th at HQ Complex, then moves onto The Big Top in Sydney on Friday 18th, Max Watts in Brisbane and Melbourne on Saturday 19th and Friday 25th respectfully, and wraps up on the west coast at Freemantle’s Metropolis on Sunday 27th.
