Sixteen more Australian-based acts were announced overnight in the third round of names selected to play South By Southwest (SXSW), between March 12-18.
This brings the total number so far to 55, including acts from New Zealand.
At the same time, the amount of delegates from Australia has hit 500, with the conference’s Australian, NZ and Hawaiian rep Phil Tripp telling TMN that he expects that number to reach 800.
The latest list includes, alphabetically:
Amy Shark (Gold Coast)
Big League (Melbourne)
Big White (Sydney)

Reporting from inside the Australian music business since '94.
Bobi Andonov (Melbourne)
Calan Mai (Gold Coast)

The list does not include Australian bands like Vacation, who are based overseas and applied from there.
Altogether, 570 names were announced from around the world.
Aside from North America and the UK, they also hailed from Mexico, Japan, Indonesia, Pakistan, South Korea, Norway, Jamaica, Argentina, Spain, France, Chile and Puerto Rico, among others.
As reported exclusively in TMN last month, the Australian acts and delegates will this year benefit from a massive investment from the G’Day USA organisation.
It has committed to a multi-million dollar five year partnership which sees its brief to promote Australian products and services across the USA (including technology, films, food and music) expand to SXSW.
G’Day USA has transformed Lucille’s on Austin’s Rainey Street into Australia House@SXSW.
Over eight days, it will have live music showcases, the Aussie BBQ, panels and discussions, incubator/start-up pitch sessions, networking events as well as tasting sessions for Australian wines, beer and coffee.
There will also be unique activations from G’Day founding partners including The Department of Foreign Trade & Affairs, Austrade, Tourism Australia and Qantas.
G’Day USA is also hosting a huge Australian stand of which music export body Sounds Australia will be part of.
