PRESS RELEASE:
The fifth annual Little BIGSOUND music forum has announced its official speaker line-up today, providing young people aged 15-25 with an amazing list of top industry speakers to discuss careers in the music business. Heading up the list of industry panellists this year, is ARIA Award-winning producer Magoo, Footstomp Music director Graham Ashton, 4ZZZ music director Chris Cobcroft, THINK Creative’s Tim Ariel and Collision Course PR’s Tim Price. Joining the stellar industry line up is a carefully curated list of local artists, including Dean McGrath (Rolls Bayce), Jarryd Shuker (Art of Sleeping), Sahara Beck and Danny Kenneally (As Paradise Falls) who will help provide vital insight from the artist’s perspective.
Programmed and run by a group of enthusiastic young people mentored by Queensland’s contemporary music organisation QMusic, Little BIGSOUND is held on July 27 at The Judith Wright Centre in Fortitude Valley. Specifically aimed at high school and university aged people with an interest in the music industry, the event brings together industry agents, record labels, bookers, artists, venue owners, recording studios and more to discuss the different pathways that the music industry can offer.
Little BIGSOUND’s leading industry speakers will be discussing new trends, providing advice and delivering entertaining anecdotes to aspiring music professionals, as well as providing real life examples on how to make their mark in the music world. Including panels on branding, networking, booking, electronic music, DIY recording and, of course, how to build sustainable careers, Little BIGSOUND has cemented itself as a must-do for young people interested in a life in the modern music industry.
“We are so excited to be unveiling our program for this year’s Little BIGSOUND,” said Fiona Campbell, youth curator of the event. “Music is such an important part of our lives and Little BIGSOUND has given us a chance to work in the area we love. Being able to organise an event that opens a window into such an exciting industry has been amazing.”
The Little BIGSOUND team has not only helped provide young music lovers with invaluable insight into the industry, but it has made some big changes; for the first year ever, Little BIGSOUND is opening artist applications for just 4 days, from Friday 29th May until midnight on Monday 1st June.
Little BIGSOUND runs from 8:30am to 3:30pm and will also include live performances from up and coming Mackay duo Tia and Jack plus lunchtime performances by artists who will be chosen in the following weeks via online applications. Keep your eye on the Little BIGSOUND Facebook page for your opportunity to apply and perform in front of over 300 delegates and some of Brisbane’s best music professionals. The artists chosen will be announced on June 10th.
