Opportunities abound around the country to help young musicians get a helping hand up.
All Girl Electronic
All Girl Electronic returns for young women, aged 15-25, from Western Sydney who have an interest in electronic music production.
The program covers training and mentoring in music software, composition and arrangement, recording, production and performance by Sydney’s producers.
The eight-week program is held at the Information and Cultural Exchange located at 8 Victoria Road, Parramatta, with two streams to choose from beginning the week of August 14 - one on Thursday nights and the other on Saturday mornings.

Emerge Youth Art Awards 2017
The City of Nedlands (WA) is on the lookout for young bands, duos and soloists aged 12-25 to perform at its Emerge Youth Art Awards 2017 on Saturday August 19 from 2-6pm.
They’re looking for “laid-back, chilled acts that are suitable for an art exhibition and awards ceremony.”

Funding from the City of Newcastle
The City of Newcastle is financially supporting not-for-profit arts and cultural organisations for up to three years, in order to develop and present projects for the city.
Organisations are expected to use a model that supports organisational sustainability, build relationships with other organisations and create a funding base in a a form that organisations can leverage with other funding providers.
Over 2017/8, the City will choose three organisations, with each getting up to $150,000 in cash and in-kind.
Expressions of interest close on Monday July 31.
Live Alice Mparntwe Arts Program
The Live Alice Mparntwe Arts Program supports arts and cultural initiatives which activate the Alice Springs CBD from October 2017 to June 2018 through two funding rounds.
Funding of up to $50,000 is available for proposals from not-for-profit arts organisations, individuals and groups.
Expressions of Interest are also open for Producer(s) and Production support to deliver the Live Alice Mparntwe Arts Program with Arts NT.
Andrew McMillan Emerging Writer’s Residency
The late music writer Andrew McMillan left a bequest to the NT (Northern Territory) Writers’ Centre in his will for the Andrew McMillan Emerging Writer’s Residency.
It is for any emerging writer member of any genre working on a major writing project.
The residency is in the remote and small settlement of Larrimah, 500 kms south along the Stuart Highway from Darwin, where McMillan would escape to write his books.
The grant offers two weeks’ accommodation and meals at the Larrimah Hotel between Sept 2017 and Jan 2018, and travel assistance for petrol or flights to the maximum value of $700.
