Lost competition entry delivered to Perth’s 96FM after 34 years

A piece of 34-year-old mail peculiarly turned up at 96FM Perth last week, sparking a nationwide search for the sender.

96FM’s Carmen & Fitzi have been working tirelessly to find Robyn Auld, who was submitting an entry form for the station’s 1983 radio competition – “Brownes Dairy Choc Rock Contest” – with the winner taking home a complete set of the Top 96 Albums of All Time.

They made call-outs on-air and across their social media channels with the hashtag #FindRobyn, hoping to find any leads in regard to the sender’s whereabouts.

On Wednesday, they found her.

Robyn Liebeck (formerly Robyn Auld) lives on a farm in a little town called Muntadgin in regional Western Australia. A relative heard the search on the radio in Perth and gave her a call.

Robyn then had her children get in contact with 96FM via their Facebook page. The brekkie hosts invited her in-studio this morning to discuss sending in the competition entry and the mystery behind the lost mail.

A big music fan, Liebeck remembers entering the competition and admits that she submitted multiple entries because she wanted the prize so much.

Liebeck mailed the letter from an address in Como, WA in 1983. Australia Post say they have no idea why it took 34 years to deliver the letter, it apparently just showed up one day.

As a surprise, Carmen & Fitzi, along with a Brownes Dairy representative, presented Robyn with a cheque for $2,000, the value of the 96 albums she would have won if she had been successful in the competition 34 years ago.
