marlon williams lands global label and agent deals

PRESS RELEASE:

On the eve of his upcoming tour, Marlon Williams has announced an international label deal with prestigious indie, Dead Oceans.

Dead Oceans are part of the Secretly Label Group, which represent The War On Drugs, Tallest Man On Earth, Sharon Van Etten, Bon Iver and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, with offices in New York, Indiana and London.

It is another step towards international success for Williams, who has also signed booking agent deals with CAA (Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen) for North America and 13 Artists (Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, Alabama Shakes) for UK/Europe.

Williams kicks off a global tour this week, playing 9 shows in New Zealand, before heading to the US, UK and Europe for a run of headline dates and an appearance at CMJ. He then returns to Australia for a huge headline tour with his band The Yarra Benders, including A Day On The Green with Paul Kelly, Lucinda Williams and Kasey Chambers.

His self-titled debut album continues to garner acclaim since its release in April, recently long-listed for the Australian Music Prize and nominated for Best Blues & Roots album at the Australian Independent Music Awards (AIR). Williams also made the top 5 of the prestigious APRA Silver Scrolls in New Zealand.

In the midst of all of this, Williams has also found time to kick start an acting career, featuring in the upcoming ABC drama The Beautiful Lie (premiering Oct 18th) and recently wrapping filming on independent feature film The Rehearsal, shot in NZ and directed by Alison Maclean.

With the international release of his debut album due for early 2016, its fair to say the world is about to discover Marlon Williams.
