Masked Wolf's breakout hit was TikTok's most-used song in 2021

Masked Wolf's breakthrough hit 'Astronaut In The Ocean' featured in more TikTok posts than any other song around the world this year.

After going viral on the app earlier this year and sending the Sydney rapper to global stardom, the song has been used in at least 16 million posts on the app.

The Conversation, however, put the figure closer to 18 million posts.

This is almost double the next most-used song on the app this year – Måneskin's 'Beggin' – which has been used in over 10 million videos on the app.

Another Aussie act that made an impact on the app is The Kid LAROI, whose collaboration with Justin Bieber, 'Stay', was the fifth-most used song on TikTok.

The milestone achieved by Masked Wolf's comes just after it was revealed that 'Astronaut In The Ocean' was the most Shazamed song of 2021 globally, earning 11.5 million Shazams.

Again, this eclipsed the second-most Shazamed track – The Weeknd’s ‘Save Your Tears’ –  which was Shazamed 8.5 million times.

Across Apple Music and Spotify, LAROI made a bigger impact than any other Australian artist.  F*CK LOVE was the most streamed Australian album on Apple Music, with ‘Stay’, ‘Without You’ and ‘So Done’ all also made an appearance in the top 25 most-streamed songs in Australia.

On Spotify, 'Stay' was Australia’s most-streamed local song, with his solo tracks ‘Without You’ and ‘So Done’ coming in at #2 and #4 on the same chart.
