PRESS RELEASE:

Meg Mac has signed to Lyor Cohen’s 300 Entertainment for the world release (ex-Australia and New Zealand) of her debut EP MEGMAC.

The 24-year-old Sydney-based singer-songwriter has already won Triple J’s Unearthed Artist of 2014, was named one of Marie Claire Australia’s Artists To Watch in 2015, is currently nominated for Rolling Stone Australia’s “Best New Talent” award, and sold out her entire tour throughout Australia this past Fall.

MEGMAC will be released stateside on April 7th, 2015, and you can click HERE to listen to the EP’s infectious and anthemic “Roll Up Your Sleeves” via SoundCloud or HERE via Spotify. Click HERE to purchase the song on iTunes, and see the SoundCloud embed below.

“From the first time we at 300 heard ‘Roll Up Your Sleeves,’ we fell in love with Meg Mac,” says Lyor Cohen. “She is a true artist of immense talent. It’s a privilege and an honor for us to have the opportunity to work with her.” For Meg, the feeling is mutual. “After meeting Lyor Cohen and everyone at 300 in New York, I can’t wait to start working with them all,” she said. “I am excited to get my music out internationally and to start playing shows overseas”.

Inspired by her childhood aural education in Detroit soul-pop and gritty Memphis blues, Meg Mac creates elusive and dark pop with innovative sonic twists and turns that merge multiple genres and defy expectations. She was first discovered in 2013 when Triple J began to play her debut single “Known Better,” and the punching track “Every Lie” followed, earning Meg a spot on Triple J’s “Next Crop: The Ones to Watch in 2014” list. The piano ballad “Roll Up Your Sleeves,” the lead single on MEGMAC, was then awarded iTunes Australia “Single Of The Week.” Since then, the accolades have continued to pour in – in addition to Triple J’s Unearthed Artist of the Year, Meg was nominated for “Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year” in the Australian Independent Music Awards, won second place in the Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition, and her music has accumulated over 1 million views and streams to date.

Full of powerhouse vocals and evocative personal narratives, MEGMAC is a stunning compilation of undeniably catchy and sultry pop songs with a neo-soul tinge. This EP and new partnership with 300 Entertainment firmly solidifies Meg Mac as a force to be reckoned with – not just in the Australian music scene, but as an international star on the rise.
