The Molly Meldrum Story on MAX and [V] Hits’ 5 Seconds of Summer Li[V]e are up for Most Outstanding Music Program at next month’s TV subscription ASTRA awards.

Also in the category is Nickelodeon’s Slimefest, held last September with Justice Crew, Timomatic and Cody Simpson among its performers.

In other nominations, Danny Clayton of Channel [V] is vying for Most Outstanding Presenter (for The Riff). Country music singer-songwriter Morgan Evans, who signed on last July as host, presenter and ambassador for CMC (Country Music Channel) is up for Most Outstanding New Talent.

MTV Networks Australia is against Sky News Business, Sky News Weather, Arena and TVH!TS for Channel Achievement.

The ASTRAs are held at Star in Sydney on March 12.

In a move to acknowledge less known but worthy shows, this year the Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association has dumped viewer votes and concentrated only on peer votes. This would put them on line with overseas awards like the Emmys. As a result there will only be 18 categories in 2015, down from 23.
